Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? Yes. Does it install in and out easily? Yes. Should it have come w/the saw? YES. I paid just over $400 for the saw – which is quite good, but the reason you pay $400 for a saw is so you don’t have to buy all of the $20, 30 and 40 dollar attachments for them. Again, very good saw, very good fence, a little tacky on the marketing of such a pricey saw.
The right side fence on the C10FSH or FSB is rather inadequate. To me, the RIGHT SIDE SUB-FENCE is a greatly appreciated add-on. It tightened up flush to the fence, (which was a worry of mine seeing as they’re an after market product.) Two things would make this sub fence better if Hitachi is listening.
1. Cut the left side so you can leave it on when beveling sharp angles from the right,…as of right now, the sub-fence needs to be removed in order to make a hard bevel cut from the right, (just as the left side needs to be swiveled, maybe the right could as well)
2. Make it come standard with the saw. I mean come on. All other saws in its class, (and there aren’t many), come with decent and thoughtful fences. Generally I wind up taking them off to make a shooting board of sorts to hold my material anyway if the cuts really count, but Hitachi should not depend on us to “make the saw work” for us. For this much money,… they should hand deliver it engraved with our names, inlayed in gold, and spit shined. word.
