I received my bag yesterday. Very happy with it. Sturdy, small, nice long (and wide) strap. interior just big enough for a large book. 1 small zippered pocket on inside of bag. 1 large open pocket under flap, 1 large pocket on outside (back) of bag. flap and outside pocket close with velcro.

I read a lot of programming books. Today's book is 9 x 7.4 x 2.1 inches, 800 + pages; shipping weight 3.4 pounds (according to Amazon). Bag handles it with plenty of room for a pencil box, small notebook and other stuff I used to forget when I'd leave the house. This is a good bag for men. Was worried it would look like a purse. Now that I have it, I'm not so worried. Plan on carrying it a lot.

note: I uploaded some pics of bag.

You want a man purse but don't want it to be obvious. The map bags have a rigid back and they're literally a foot long which is as long as a messenger bag. Try one out at your local Army/Navy store. They're clumsy.

The M-51 engineers bag is, again, too big unless you need to walk around with a copy of The Physician's Desk Reference all day long.

You don't want a 16" wide messenger bag either. You don't even ride a bike.

The euro-type man purses are just a little too feminine and you're a closet Budweiser / NASCAR guy anyway.

This bag fits a perfect niche. It's 10 x 10 making it a manly square. It has a soft back. There are just enough pockets and compartments (4 total) but not so many that you'll have to draw a map of where your stuff is.

The construction is astonishingly good. I'm surprised they sell it at this price. Very heavy fabric.

Shipped quickly, looks great,

This is a great messenger bag. Made of tough, durable canvas. I've been using those grocery store bags to carry stuff around, occasionally. This messenger bag is much better -- environmentally too.

I thought it would be slightly bigger, judging by the picture. But it still holds my lunch, Kindle and GPS and a few USB cables with spare room.
